The main initial attraction of the property to my son and me was it proximity to Thurso Railway Station. On the day we stayed in early June 2019 we had just finished a charity tandem cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats. Our tandem had been picked up at JOG and we had caught the bus to Thurso.
The property was also conveniently located very close to the bus stop, which saved a long walk with our very heavy pannier bags. Carrying them by hand made us realise why it had been so hard to cycle up all the hills across the country.
The Edwardian building did not create the very best of first impressions, looking rather dour and severe but all subsequent impressions were great. The property had been completely renovated and our twin room was stunning: tastefully modern décor, immaculate ensuite, large flat screen tv and a comfy sofa. Plenty of room to spread out and re-pack one final time for the train the next morning and luxurious beds to slumber in (until the 6:00 alarm).
Unfortunately we are unable to comment on breakfast because we were away on the 06:50 train, due to arrive in Plymouth around midnight! However, we can say the property is also conveniently located for the superstore, where we loaded up with train goodies the night before.
Overall, a lovely property and highly recommended. I am sure breakfast would have been of as high a standard as everything else.
