My Son and I stayed here at the end of our 5th day’s cycling on a Lands End to John O’Groats charity tandem ride at the end of May 2019.

This property exceeded our expectations.  It’s setting and largely indifferent reviews may have set the bar low but we had a very pleasant stay and the staff were welcoming, friendly and went out of their way to find a safe space for our tandem. In fact, after taking the front wheel off and manoeuvring it on its back wheel, we managed to squeeze it into the narrow office behind the reception desk. Luckily, you will see form the pictures, I had been practicing this technique on the canal towpath, all rainy day, every time we came to a bike calming obstacle.

Our room was clean and had everything we needed including an an ensuite with plenty of hot water for washing both ourselves and our kit.  There was plenty of space in the room to unpack our panniers for re-organisation and to dry our washed kit. The beds were comfortable and we both had a good night’s sleep.

Breakfast was served in the restaurant and was a buffet of both hot and cold dishes.  As a hungry cyclist this surely has to be the way to go and we filled our boots accordingly.

All in all a very pleasant stay.
