I stayed here during my 2023 John O’Groats to Lands End ride, when I was accompanied by my wife and 13 year old son, who were acting as support crew.
We were made to feel very welcome in this private guest house. Tina, Tony and Lisa are friendly and gracious hosts. This is a very quiet location but easy to find by car with Google and close to Boots, Tesco, Waitrose and the railway station.
We shared a large, homely family room with double bed and double sofa bed – both of which were incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was warm, clean, modern and bright with a shower only and heated towel rail covered with ample fluffy towels.
There is easy independent access to the property using key fob so guests are free to come and go as they please. The adjoining funeral directors next door provides ample free parking.
Guests enjoy exclusive use of the guest house which includes use of a separate cosy TV lounge and dining room. The owner lives in separate property adjoined at the back. A thoughtful gesture included a plentiful supply of current magazines to browse on the landing.
Our cooked breakfast was ordered the night before. A buffet of cereals, fruit and yoghurts greets you in the communal dining room.
There is no dining on site but there is good access to nearby pubs and fast food outlets. Guests are allowed to bring back any takeaways or heat meals in the microwave.
My bike was stored overnight in the owner’s garden at the back of the house.
