I stayed here during my 2023 John O’Groats to Lands End ride, when I was accompanied by my wife and 13 year old son, who were acting as support crew.
The Park Hotel is a charming purpose built family owned hotel, just off the main road in Thurso, opposite a large Tesco. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.
We stayed in a comfortable well-furnished family room with one double and a single bed. Our room was at the front and quiet with views over the town. A kettle is provided in the room to make hot drinks and top up flasks with a thoughtful selection of caffeinated and decaff varieties including hot chocolate. The bathroom was clean and roomy with a shower over the bath.
The onsite restaurant and bar serves delicious food – the best cooked salmon my wife had – but it is busy so it is advisable to book beforehand.
My bike was stored securely overnight in a back room – you need to ask the staff to access it. Parking was at the front of hotel.
Breakfast comprised cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries as well as a cooked breakfast and pancakes. The kitchen were happy to freeze our ice packs overnight.
